Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) today, Tuesday, September 27 joined some other selected civil society organizations in Rivers State to receive COVID-19 Emergency Support food items and materials for onward distribution to indigent and vulnerable households in Rivers State.
The items which consist of rice, beans, groundnut oil, garri, salt, etc. packed inside sack bags are provided by the Victims Support Fund (VSF) for Advocacy Centre and other NGOs to share free-of-charge to the needy in selected communities in the state.
At the flag-off ceremony held today at the Red Cross premises in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital by representatives of VSF from Abuja, YEAC-Nigeria received a first badge of 250 bags of the items for onward distribution to the people at the community level.
Before commencing the distribution, a baseline mapping of the vulnerable and those who really need these items would be carried out and their data captured on a database provided through a dedicated Application and a card that would be used to collect the items issued to the beneficiary.
The Executive Director of Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria), Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface accompanied by Peace Oruwari, Communications Officer, Cosmas Gbereva, Project Officer and Helen Ayes, Communications Assistant received the items from VSF on behalf of the organization.
Advocacy Centre had in March 2022 signed a partnership agreement with the Viticms Support Fund for this project and the organization will keep you and members of the public updated on the processes, selected communities and distribution of the items to those they are meant for among others.
