ADVOCACY CENTRE on Monday, September 30, 2019 organized and sensitised over 1,000 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Human Rights. The program tagged “Sensitization and Awareness Creation on human rights among youths and students in Rivers State” also had the Executive Directors of Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC), Comrade Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface and Society for Women and Youths Affairs (SWAYA), Amanie Stella in attendance. Also present was an International Human Rights and Environmental Activist, Genevieve Talbot from Canada.
The students interacted with the organizers of the program and asked very useful questions on human rights issues affecting them. many of the students also expressed their interest to volunteer and be part of Advocacy Centre as human rights, environmental and climate change activists, a request that YEAC granted with a promise to follow up for them to register as a part of the human right organisation in no distance time.
Advocacy Centre would in the days ahead extend this training to other secondary schools in Rivers State and other parts of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria.
