PUBLIC NOTICE AND PRESS RELEASE //// JUNE 21, 2021

REMOVAL OF “REGIONAL FACILITATOR, PLATFORM FOR THE COORDINATION OF NIGER DELTA ARTISANAL REFINERS” FROM FYNEFACE DUMNAMENE NOMENCLATURE AND ADVOCACY CENTRE’S PROJECT WITH ARTISANAL REFINERS IN THE NIGER DELTA

The public is hereby notified that with effect from Monday, June 21, 2021, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface and Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) have ceased to include “Regional Facilitator” and “Platform for the Coordination of Niger Delta Artisanal Refiners for Modular Refineries” respectively as part of their names in the organization’s project with artisanal crude oil refiners (PACOR) in the Niger Delta.

This is contained in a statement released in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 as part of resolutions reached by the organization’s Board of Trustees (BoT) after a virtual meeting held on June 20 and signed by Roseline Omoji and Barr. Chioma Choko, BoT Chairwoman and Secretary respectively.

The statement further said although YEAC and its Executive Director have expended scarce resources to develop and popularize the Platform so far, “the decision is meant to disentangle the unregistered Platform from a registered and legally regulated organization like YEAC to prevent vulnerability as such closeness can land Advocacy Centre in trouble with regulatory agencies of government”.

Consequent upon this, the statement said “Advocacy Centre will continue campaigning against oil theft, environmental pollution and advocate on artisanal refining as well as promote the provision of alternative livelihood opportunities for youths involved in artisanal crude oil refining activities for environmental sustainability in the Niger Delta based on its Corporate Affairs Commission mandate “To campaign against oil theft, artisanal refining and pollution” in Nigeria as it was doing before the commencement of partnership with the Platform on November 28, 2017”.

Conclusively, the statement said “As the Executive Director of a nationally incorporated and focused trustees working on a Project with Artisanal Crude Oil Refiners (PACOR) in the Niger Delta region, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface will henceforth be known on this advocacy as the National Facilitator, Project with Artisanal Crude Oil Refiners (PACOR) in the Niger Delta”.
