Solar Mini Off-Grid Electricity: YEAC signs agreement with community, receives donated land
TODAY, Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria and UK) and its development partners signed agreements with the leadership of Umuolu Community, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State for the installation of Solar Mini Off-Grid Electricity facility. YEAC had in August 2022 completed surveys in the community after a robust community sensitization and awareness creation on the project.
Umuolu Community donates land to Advocacy Centre for the siting Solar Mini Off-Grid Electricity Project as part of its Energy Transition Programme for Communities Without Electricity (CWE) in the Niger Delta. After measuring the parcel of land for the project to meet the required size, the Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface took possession of the land on behalf of the organization with necessary documents signed by both parties, transferring the land to the organization for the project purpose.
After signing project acceptance agreements, land donation and transfer deed, the Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface presented a “High-Level Project Plan” document that contains every next steps and activities that would be carried out in the community from start till the Solar Mini Off-Grid Electricity facility is powered on, to the President General (PG), Engr. Tabowei. With the yellow spot on the document meaning the activities carried out today, five previous activities have been completed in Umuolu and three more are left before the community is powered on to constant solar electricity in the next few months.
