Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) on invitation by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Petroleum Resources participated in the 7th Edition of the National Council on Hydrocarbons (NCH) in Minna, Niger State from November 22-25. YEAC-Nigeria was invited through its Executive Director, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface to address the Council on its projects with Artisanal Crude Oil Refiners, Presidential Artisanal Crude Oil Refining Development Initiative (PACORDI), Energy Transition and related initiatives on oil theft mitigation mechanisms proposed by Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria).

The National Council on Hydrocarbon is an extraordinary gathering of stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector including oil companies, ministries, departments and agencies of government that are directly or indirectly affected by the policies formulated and implemented by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources as approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to annually review and formulate new policies for the smooth operations of the sector.

Mr. Fyneface Dumnamene who has been at the forefront of the advocacy against pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, artisanal refining, gas flaring, soot and associated environmental pollution has also been promoting alternative livelihood opportunities for artisanal refiners for environmental sustainability in the Niger Delta with articulated illegal refineries mitigation mechanisms that support just energy transitioning in the country. Hence, the invitation.
