Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) joined other organisations, activists, environmental justice advocates and climate change campaigners to mark the 2019 International Day of Peace. The theme of this year’s edition of Peace Day which started in 1981 following a United Nations’ Resolution is “Climate Action for Peace”.

The street walk in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital was organized by Relief International Africa in collaboration with other sister organizations including Social Action, YEAC, National Youths Serve Corps (NYSC), etc. Also participating were the Nigerian Red Cross that were on ground to provide First Aid serv.e as well as the Federal Road Safety Corps that handled traffic issues while the Nigerian Police Force provided security for a successful peace walk.

The work started at Rumuola junction and terminated at the popular Isaac Boro Park, Flyover, Port Harcourt with organisers speaking and calling for peace and climate action. Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of Advocacy Centre, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface called on world leaders to use the opportunity of participating in the ongoing United Nations Climate Action Submit in New York to commit to the fight against climate change that threatens world peace and security.  Also speaking, the Programs Manager, Environment, Livelihood and Community Rights, Damian Gbogbara called youths to join the campaign against climate change and environmental sustainability. #PeaceWalk2019 #ClimateAction #PeaceDay #peaceful #nature #peace
