A crude oil spill has been reported in K-Dere Community in Gokana Local Government Area (Ogoni) of Rivers State. The spill was reported on Friday, October 20, 2023, on a pipeline operated by SPDC Ltd.

The crude oil spill that occurred on a pipeline close to a primary school is said to have disrupted academic activities as the offensive odour from it was unbearable, just as people were also trouping in to see the spill point.

The spill impacted the immediate environment and affected plants and crops planted around the spill site.
