ENGAGEMENT SESSION ON CONSUMER PROTECTION WITH CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA
Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) was on Friday, December 10, 2021 invited by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for engagement session on consumer protection to make input into the development of a Risk-Based Consumer Protection Supervisory Framework for the country.
The event which was organized by the CBN in collaboration with Ernst & Young (EY) also had other stakeholders from the NGO to the media to persons living with disabilities among others from Rivers and neighbouring States in attendance. The CBN said the meeting which held today in Port Harcourt would also hold in other regions of the country and cities to get input from other stakeholders into the policy document. Various issues in the banking and finance sector were pointed out, x-rayed and analysed with solutions proffered to enrich the policy document. With this engagement and advocacy partnership, Advocacy Centre will be able to further receive some chronic complaints from the banking and financial sectors and help citizens and members of the public channel same to the CBN for action and redress.
