ETE-O TANKER FIRE INCIDENT: YEAC UPDATES PUBLIC
In the Press Release by Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) dated August 14, 2022 and signed by its Executive Director, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, it was reported in it that two persons are feared killed, some others injured and hospitalized.
ETE-O is a community in Eleme Local Government Area (Ogoniland) of Rivers State sharing boundaries with Ebubu Community among others.
Members of ADVOCACY CENTRE’S Youth Volunteers Network in the community have exclusively obtained and released photographs of the alleged two victims that died. YEAC-Nigeria thus wishes to update the public on this new development as we continue monitoring the situation and circumstances surrounding these deaths that we have expected to be burnt rather than the injuries we are seeing on the dead bodies that seems as if it was a result of a stamped.
The Advocacy Centre will keep updating the public as more details emerge from this incident.
Attached to this update are two photographs of two victims of the incident.
Advocacy Centre calls on the authorities to launch a full scale investigation into this incident and stop security operatives from further destroying our environment and causing Soot in the process of destroying tankers and vessels allegedly conveying illegal and stolen petroleum products in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
