YEAC-NIGERIA PETITION: House of Reps Summons hospitals for failure to treat a victim over police report
The House of Representatives has summoned hospitals that failed to treat a victim over the non-possession of a police report.
Barine Lenee, Ph.D was died on September 30, 2023, as the hospitals he managed and rushed to refused to treat him after he was stabbed by suspected robber who only dispossessed him of his handset along the Trans-Amadi/Slaughter road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State
Following the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre’s (YEAC-Nigeria) petition against the hospitals that failed to treat the late Dr. Barine Lenee, leading to his bleeding to death, and the motion on the petition raised on the floor of the House of Representatives by Dum Dekor, a member representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency late last year, as also communicated then, the House Committee on Public Petitions has summoned or invited the hospitals to a hearing on the matter.
As such, the petitioner, ADVOCACY CENTRE has also been invited to the hearing holding on February 7, 2024, at the National Assembly.
While we can’t bring our late brother and colleague, who was buried on December 23, back to life, it is just our prayer that this whole process gives him justice in death and support to ameliorate the sufferings of his widow and three little children that he left behind.
We continue to count on you and appreciate you all for your support of YEAC-Nigeria in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities, among others.
Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface,
Executive Director, YEAC-Nigeria.
