YEAC ELECTED RIVERS STATE COORDINATOR OF NETWORK ON POLICE REFORM IN NIGERIA
Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) has been elected Rivers State Coordinator of Network on Police Reform in Nigeria-NOPRIN
The process which formed part of the highpoints of a 2-Day _”Youth Summit in Akwa-Ibom State, South-South Geopolitical Zone”_ also saw the emergence of Mac-Jim Foundation as Bayelsa State Coordinator, Centre for Human Rights, Advocacy and Anti-Corruption Initiative for Delta State; Women, Youths and Children Advancement Program (WOYCAP) for Edo State, Noble Organization for Solidarity and Development (NOSA) for Cross River State and Foundation for the Conservation of the Earth (FOCONE) as South-South Geopolitical Zone Disability and Policing Coordinator while COMPPART Foundation for Justice and Peace-building for Akwa-Ibom State and host of the Youth Summit retained its position as South-South Geopolitical Zone Coordinator of NOPRIN Foundation.
Established in the year 2000, NOPRIN FOUNDATION, a network of over 53 civil society organizations spread across Nigeria commits to promoting police accountability and respect for human rights. The network also works to provide opportunity for civil society organizations involvement in police reform advocacy and the promotion of safety, security and justice in Nigeria.
As the Rivers State Coordinator and secretariat of the Network, Advocacy Centre will admit and work with other organizations in the State interested in getting involved, promoting and achieving reforms in the Nigeria Police for effective service delivery, policing and respect for human rights in as part of South-South and national efforts in these direction. YEAC will hold office for two years with performance-based renewal opportunity.
