YEAC-NIGERIA SIGNS MoU WITH OSPAC; FORMALIZES WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ONELGA Security, Planning, and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) on Saturday, November 18, formalizing working relationships between the two groups.

The brief event, which took place at the OSPAC headquarters in Omoku, headquarters of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State, followed a previous courtesy call on the state OSPAC General Commander on October 31, 2023, with a commitment to partner with YEAC-Nigeria on the sensitization of its members on human rights protection, the development of operational procedures and guidelines, and effective grassroots security services, among others.

With the formalization of working relationships between ADVOCACY CENTRE and OSPAC, the stage is now set for more engagements to strengthen the capacity of OSPAC by YEAC-Nigeria, Spaces for Change and partners to address issues affecting communities in Rivers State in relation to OSPAC activities and operations as the capacity of OSPAC Commanders in the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State and other members would soon be developed and strengthened with the improvement and production of extant operational procedures for the non-state actor security outfit whose activities were captured in the Security Playbook of the Action Group on Free Civic Space (AGFCS) which YEAC-Nigeria is a member and contributing author.

While Mr. Comrade Felix Nwobakata, Rivers State General Commander of OSPAC, signed the MoU for and on behalf of OSPAC, Mr. Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, Executive Director of YEAC-Nigeria, signed it for and on behalf of ADVOCACY CENTRE in the presence of his entourage and other OSPAC members.

YEAC-Nigeria’s Executive Director, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, was accompanied to the event by Mr. Frank Nornubari, Cosmas Gbereva, Emmanuel Koobee and Confidence Ikwegbu.
