Youths Sensitization Against Cultism, Violence
Advocacy Centre, on Saturday, February 22, 2020 partnered the Sii Community Youth Council in Babbe Kingdom, Khana Local Government Area (Ogoniland) of Rivers State and sensitised the youths, women groups, elders and the paramount ruler against cultism, violence at the community town square today.Speaking at the program, the Executive Director of Advocacy Centre, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface focused his message on nonviolence, campaign against cultism and peace-building in the community as cult-related violence that engulfed parts of Ogoniland in 2019 had the community and areas around as the most impacted with communities sacked, lives and properties lost. He stressed the need for peace, unity and cooperation which he said are in the hands of the youths adding that no meaningful development can come to the community and Ogoniland if there is no peaceful atmosphere.
The week-long program which that concludes with a thanksgiving service on February 23, 2020 is tagged “Recreating Your Mindset: A Panacea to Peace Building and Community Development” and organised by the Comrade Nwitoh Kenneth Barigbor-led youth executive. Advocacy Centre would continue to engage youths, communities, stakeholders and groups in Niger Delta communities to bring about peace and community development.
