FULL REPORT OF NASS HEARING OF YEAC-NIGERIA’S PETITION AGAINST MEDICAL FACILITIES ON LATE DR. BARINE LENEE DEATH

ABUJA-FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY – On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the National Assembly House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions summoned Princess Medical Centre, Port Harcourt, for the hearing of the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre’s (YEAC-Nigeria) petition against it and three other private medical facilities in Rivers State for refusing to offer medical services to the late Dr. Barine Lenee, ACA, 41, a victim of attack, for not coming with a police report, a practice that runs contrary to the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshots Act, 2017.

While a preliminary report about the hearing was released in a press statement on Sunday, February 12, a more detailed 4-page report of what transpired on the floor of the National Assembly’s Committee Room 429 on the matter is released today and it is available here on our website for download, reading and sharing.
