MR. PLAGIARISM CASE: NOTICE OF COURT HEARING
Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC) hereby updates and informs you and the general public that the first hearing/mention of the case between MR. PLAGIARISM vs. Fyneface Dumnamene and Advocacy Centre in Suit. No. PHC/1057/CS/2021 comes up on Friday, September 24, 2021 as fixed by the Court at the Port Harcourt division of the Rivers State Judiciary.
To refresh your memory, a man we now simply called “MR PLAGIARISM” (which was part of the words he used while accusing us and also because we don’t want to glorify him all the time by mentioning his name in our publications but available on our website at www.centreadvocacy.org) had in March this year 2021 called Advocacy Centre’s office, threatened the staff, organization and its Executive Director, Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface and also later same day, called the Director near midnight, accusing and threatening him for ‘stealing’ and ‘plagiarizing’ his idea on Presidential Artisanal Crude Oil Refining Development Initiative (PACORDI) which he said he published first on his Facebook page on October 20, 2020 and we “stole” and published in the Guardian Newspaper on December 21, 2020.
On urgent public demand, we responded to these allegations in a press statement that if it was on October 20 that he published first, then, Fyneface Dumnamene conceived, coined and published before him in July 2020, three months earlier and had since then being using it for advocacy and transmitted both locally and internationally with available documentary and electronic mail evidences that dates far back before his October 20, 2020 date as we have now provided and presented to the Court in the suit.
Despite our response then, Mr. Plagiarism went further and made character defamatory publications against us on social media, etc. and also didn’t stop there but served us legal papers from a Lagos State-based Law Firm through both our email and Courier company that delivered the hard copies to us in our head office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
As Law-abiding, human right organization and corporate personality/individual that should live exemplary lives which we tried to do daily, we are thus in Court for the determination of who is actually the original owner or owners of PACORDI and who stole whose idea on the subject-matter.
For openness and transparency sake, the media will carry and publish the outcome of each day of court appearances with our Lead Lawyer addressing the press at the Court premises till judgement is delivered on the matter which among others is seeking the declaration of our innocence, publication of apology to clear us of the allegations in national dailies and N105million as specific, general and punitive damages, etc.
Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface,
Executive Director, YEAC.
